UPDATE @ 1800Hrs
The day became increasingly miserable. By 1800Hrs, 3.7mms of rain had fallen & the maximum temperature had only reached 13.2 degrees.
THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Spells of rain for much of the evening, but clearing overnight. Temperatures down to about 5 degrees.
OUTLOOK
SUNDAY should start dry & bright, but cloud will build later to give some sharp afternoon showers. Becoming windier as the day progresses & still rather cold for late May. MONDAY is likely to have some rain & strong winds. TUESDAY looks set for sunshine & showers. Temperatures will remain below the late May average.
IT APPEARS INCREASINGLY LIKELY THAY THIS MAY'S AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WILL TURN OUT LOWER THAN THAT RECORDED DURING APRIL---A VERY RARE OCCURENCE.
NORMALLY, MAY IS 3.5 DEGREES WARMER THAN APRIL, BUT IN 1978, IT WAS 7.5 DEGREES WARMER.
