MONDAY 2nd MAY

HEADLINES @ 0900Hrs
Yet another beautiful morning, though the coastal strip has got low cloud in. There was a slight air frost & sharp ground frost at this site overnight. (An air frost below about -3 can cause damage to plants at this time of year, e.g. making rhododendron buds mushy.          THERE IS AN APRIL SUMMARY + TEMPERATURE GRAPH FURTHER DOWN THE PAGE.   APRIL DAYTIME TEMPERATURE AVERAGES REALLY WERE SOMETHING SPECIAL.

PITLOCHRY TODAY
There is some North Sea low cloud a few miles to the SE of Pitlochry, but this should retreat back to the coast & we can expect another sunny day. Temperatures should reach a maximum close to 16 degrees, that is a couple of degrees down on yesterday, with a cooling E to SE breeze.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
A sunny evening & a clear night. There is likely to be a ground frost.

OUTLOOK
Gradually going downhill during the week ahead. Probably more cloud each day & maximum temperatures lowering to be closer to the May normal. Probably milder nights from Wednesday onwards. Some rain is possible Thursday night or Friday.
