A cloudy start, with light rain. Last evening saw a very slight frost, before cloud increased ahead of the rain. There is a lot of heavy rain over Western Scotland, but the radar shows that it is turning lighter & patchy as it moves east.

A mainly cloudy day, with rain at times. The rain will be light & patchy at first, but will become heavier & more persistent with time, before dying out later this afternoon. Temperatures should reach 8 or 9 degrees today, making it the mildest so far this year.The wind is likely to become fresh from the W or SW.
THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
There will be a few clear spells, but also a few showers, which may well fall as sleet or snow. It is likely to be windy, with temperatures falling close to freezing.
OUTLOOK
Continuing unsettled, with bands of rain, alternating with sunny intervals & showers. Often rather windy & temperatures very variable. quite mild during the rain areas , but colder in the showery-type weather.
