FRIDAY 18th FEBRUARY----EVENING

UPDATE @ 1700Hrs
The day was cheerless, with low grey cloud, though, thankfully, just about dry. The SE breeze added a chill to things, with the day's highest temperature 4.3 (about 2 degrees below normal ). At 1700hrs, it was drizzling

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Little change this evening, with cloudy, breezy coditions & probably some occasional drizzle or slight rain. Overnight, the rain is likely to become heavier & more persistent & with temperatures slowly falling from around 4 degrees towards zero, may well turn to sleet or wet snow. As usual, the higher ground in the area is most prone to accumulations of snow (perhaps between 5 & 10cms on ground above 250m) .The town itself is likely to see some snow, though this should have a high water content & readily turn slushy. Perhaps the worst of any snow should fall towards the end of the night & early on Saturday morning. Winds will be strong from the SE.

OUTLOOK
Sleet or snow should clear by mid morning to leave a rather cloudy, breezy day with little if any sunshine. It will feel cold. The following few days are likely to remain mainly cloudy & unsettled, with some rain at times.
