A first glimpse of the Svartisen Glacier at latitude 66 43. This is Norway's 2nd largest glacier. The name "Svartisen"means "black ice" This glacier stands today as a living museum to the Ice Age & it is worth reflecting how the edge of the ice cap must have looked when 18,000 years ago it covered over half of the British Isles.
