WEDNESDAY 7th DECEMBER----EVENING

For longer outlook periods, surface pressure charts, mountain weather & severe weather warnings, go to the Met Office's regional forecasts and click the relevant headings.

HEADLINES @ 1800Hrs
The first part of the morning (accompanying the snow-clearing! ) was rather cloudy with a sleety shower, but thereafter, it was quite pleasant, except for quite a fresh breeze. It was also milder, the top temperature reaching 4.1.  The charts for both Thursday & Friday are looking very disturbed, so worth checking on the Met Office severe weather warnings.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
The odd light shower around at first this evening, but much of the night should be dry with some clear spells & a slight frost, at least on the ground, giving icy patches following today's thawing.  Late in the night, there may be a short spell of snow, followed by a longer spell of rain as temperatures rise.

THURSDAY
Is likely to start wet & windy, any snow soon turning to rain. The rain is likely to be heavy at times & last through the morning, giving an accelerated thaw of lying snow.  By afternoon, colder air will arrive from the NW, the weather becoming drier & brighter, but becoming very windy.  CHECK M. O. WARNINGS.  Showers will develop in the colder air, so may start to turn increasingly to sleet or snow late in the day.
