MONDAY 19th DECEMBER----EVENING

For longer outlook periods, surface pressure charts, mountain weather & severe weather warnings, go to the Met Office's regional forecasts and click the relevant headings.

HEADLINES @ 1600Hrs
Periods of snow until late afternoon, with this morning's snow depth of 3.5cms rising to 6cms.  But you didn't have to go far away to find rain falling & no snow around at all e.g. Perth. It was all a question of altitude, with a world of difference between, say, 50 mts & 150mts (The webcams listed in favourite links helping to illustrate today's marked variations).
The temperature had only reached 0.5 here by 1600Hrs.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Some clear spells & generally dry weather, will allow temperatures to fall just below freezing, making slushy surfaces icy by morning.

TUESDAY
It should be a dry day with some sunshine, but still cold, with only a very slow thaw. During the afternoon, cloud will tend to increase & thicken, bringing rain after dark. Any sleet at first, should quickly turn to rain. It will become widier & a little milder.
