HEADLINES @ 1645Hrs
Another pleasant day, if rather cold. The maximum temperature was 4.3.   Most of the severe weather is in the south of England---gales & snow in some parts too.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Much of the night will be dry with some clear spells, with only a small risk of an odd shower of sleet or snow. Temperatures are already close to freezing & are likely to fall to -3 or -4 by dawn.  Expect icy surfaces & valley bottom mist patches

FRIDAY
Much of the day will be dry & cold with spells of sunshine. Ice will be slow to clear & valley mist may linger well into the day. There may be a temperature inversion, whereby Pitlochry & valley sites remain in a pool of cold heavy air, with temperatures unable to climb much above 1.
