HEADLINES @ 0900Hrs
A very different feel to things this morning!   The thermometer touched double digits through the night & much of the lying snow has gone. There was just a hint of drizzle in the light SW breeze. This is tropical maritime air & it makes a nice change, but polar maritime air will be back tomorrow.  Which air mass wil win the battle for Christmas Day? (See an extended outlook below).  Be positive!!---The days are now going to slowly start getting longer

PITLOCHRY TODAY
December's mildest day so far. This morning will be rather cloudy, with perhaps an odd patch of drizzle, but the afternoon may well stay mainly dry, with cloud rather more broken. Breezy from the S.W. Maximum temperature about 10.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Mostly cloudy, with a spell of rain (cold front), which will introduce polar maritime air, replacing today's tropical maritime air flow. Winds will veer from SW to W or NW, visibility will improve & temperatures will fall to near zero by dawn.

FRIDAY, CHRISTMAS EVE & CHRISTMAS DAY
Colder again tomorrow, but the overall situation is a mobile westerly, so the milder weather will return, but bringing some rain & strong winds at times. Very low chance of a White Christmas!!
