HEADLINES @ 1730Hrs
A reasonable start to December 2011, but 12 months ago, the maximum temperature had only reached -2.7, with 20cms of snow lying.  Today, the highest temperature was a near-normal + 5.9.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Still just a chance of an isolated shower, with some sleet.  That apart, the evening & night will be dry, with some clear patches. It's already down to +1 & likely to drop to -2 or -3 by dawn. Some icy patches where roads/pavements have not been gritted.

FRIDAY
A cold start, perhaps some valley mist patches. Dry & bright for most of the day, but there is likely to be more cloud around later in the afternoon with showers or some longer spells of rain likely. It will become windy. Maximum temperatures around 5.
