FRIDAY 2nd DECEMBER----EVENING

For longer outlook periods, surface pressure charts, mountain weather & severe weather warnings, go to the Met Office's regional forecasts and click the relevant headings.

HEADLINES @ 1600Hrs
After the morning mist cleared, the clouds were reluctant to break & patchy slight rain was really the order of the day. During the afternoon in particular, nuisance-value rain became quite persistent.  There wasn't much to actually measure though, just 0.4mms.  By 1600Hrs, the thermometer had only risen to 3.5, but with a S to SW breeze freshening, it may well go up a little for the next hour or two.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
It will remain overcast, with a little further rain for a time this evening. Later, it should become dry, with a few breaks in the cloud. Later in the night, one or two sleety showers may affect the area.  Minimum temperature about 2.

WEEKEND
A rather cold weekend, with a fresh breeze from the W or NW.  There will be a fair amount of dry weather, with some bright sunshine, but a few showers may manage through from the west, where they will be much more frequent.  All higher ground  will see showers falling as snow.  In Pitlochry, any showers could contain sleet & perhaps snow later in the period & at the start of next week.   Temperatures generally in the range of 3 or 4 by day & a slight to moderate frost overnight.
