HEADLINES @ 1745Hrs
Decidedly dreich today, even lights on during the daytime.  To rub salt in the wounds, many parts of England & Wales had a generous supply of blue skies & sunshine.   Parts of Northern Scotland did very well yesterday. The meteorologically famous village of Altnaharra (between Lairg & Tongue) topped the U.K-wide list for maximum temperature (19 degrees--about double its normal.)  Altnaharra was once both the warmest & coldest place in the U.K. on a single day--a very rare occurrence.   So no sun today, but as yet, very little rain. Max. temp. 13.2.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
A cold front will cross the area about midnight. Ahead of this, there will be a spell of rain (mostly lightish, just a few moderate outbreaks).  No more double figure minima for a while, about 8 tonight, but some ground frosts lined up for next week.

SUNDAY
A much better day than the last few. Cloud should be broken allowing some sunshine on occasions. There may just be an odd passing shower. It will be a little breezier & fresher
