MONDAY 17th OCTOBER----EVENING

HEADLINES @ 1700Hrs
Most of the continuous & at times heavy rain has passed through & now lies over Southern Scotland.  Parts ot the Southern Grampians have had some snow falling.  Today's rainfall in Pitlochry (0845 to 1645 ) has amounted to 9.6mms, equivalent to 9% of an average month's total.  Today's maximum temperature only reached  8.3

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
It's alread down to 3.5 degrees, so a cold night is in prospect. Cloud should start to break up somewhat during the evening with some dry spells, but showers are also likely (of snow on higher ground). Minimum temperatures down to 2 or 3, with a touch of ground frost

TUESDAY
A cold, windy day with temperatures struggling to reach double figures. Cloud will be broken, with a few sunny intervals, but there are also likely to be some squally showers around.   For fewer showers & more sunshine---head east, for cloudier skies & more frequent showers head west. Expect snow in the showers above about 400 to 500 ms with severe wind-chill  (check Met. Office link above)
