WEDNESDAY 9th MARCH----EVENING

UPDATE @ 1630Hrs
Following a few snow showers & sunny spells this morning, the afternoon became mostly dry, though with cloud gradually on the increase. It's been a cold day, with a top temperature of only 4.2 (over 4 degrees below normal)

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Cloud has been filling in during the last hour or two & light rain has already reached Pitlochry. It is expected that the rain will become heavier during the evening, perhaps turning to wet snow for a time, though this should not result in any accumulations, except above about 200 to 250metres. After midnight, the continuous rain will start to die out, to be followed by occasional squally showers, which may well be wintry. It is also expected to become very windy from the W or SW later in the night. Lowest temperatures will be around 2 degrees.

OUTLOOK
Generally very unsettled, with strong winds at times, with some wintry showers or more prolonged spells of rain, sleet & more snow, especially on higher ground. The Met Office have some early warnings out for snowfall on Friday & Saturday, but keep checking to see if this applies at heights of 100 to 200 metres. Temperatures will be below normal, with slight overnight frosts.
