TUESDAY 4th JANUARY

HEADLINES @ 0900Hrs----Have just been looking at the partial solar eclipse (there's a segment out of the sun on the L.H. side). It's amazing how these eclipses are totally predictable so far ahead; it's the same predictability with the times of high & low tide. But as for the weather, the word "predictable" is almost alien to the subject!! Perhaps, though, that's what makes it so fascinating!! Some icy patches around this morning, as overnight lows fell to -0.8. At 0900, it was +0.1.

PITLOCHRY TODAY----Some dry, bright weather around today, but there are a lot of showers to the west of us & it is likely that a few of these will get over the mountains to affect us. With winds from the SW, temperatures should respond, reaching 4 or 5 degrees.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT----There could still be a shower at first, but as the night wears on, it is likely to become much clearer with an opportunity for a frost to develop, minimum temperatures -1 to -3 degrees.

OUTLOOK----Sunny spells & a few showers on Wednesday. Turning colder towards the weekend, with some snow a possibility.
