SUNDAY 9th JANUARY--EVENING

UPDATE @ 1700Hrs
Apart from the rogue snow shower mid-morning, which caught me napping a bit, the remainder of the day has been dry & bright, with good spells of sunshine. The highest temperature reached positive territory at 2.4. As darkness descended, skies were largely clear & the thermometer began to fall quickly, down to -1.9 at 1700Hrs.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Much of the night will be fine, clear & frosty, but there is likely to be an increase in cloud later on. There is a risk that there may be some snow reaching the area towards the end of the night, though this is by no means certain & it is the high ground further west that is at greater risk. ( http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ ) will confirm, later in the night, whether or not we are likely to be affected by snow.Temperatures are likely to be at their lowest while skies remain clear, minimum around -4.

OUTLOOK
Still on course for milder conditions by mid-week, though initially, there could be some further snow on high ground, as the systems bringing the milder air meet some stubborn colder air. Daytime temperatures should reach positive territory from now on, at least for several days. A return to colder conditions can be expected within about 10 days. Such is life!!
