A WARM WELCOME TO PITLOCHRY WEATHER!
THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY, USING PREVIOUS MET OFFICE CLIMATE STATION EXPERIENCE. FORECASTING IS BASED ON MET OFFICE & BBC MATERIAL, WHICH IS THEN TAILORED FOR THE PITLOCHRY AREA, USING LOCAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE.  Most of the more general rain areas are running along the line of the Jet Stream across Southern England. Scotland is left on the polar side of the Jet Stream, so remaining rather cold (today very cold), with showery conditions, most of the showers in the west, with some decent dry spells in the east with some sunshine, Winds, after today, mostly fresh from the SW & temperatures in the range 5 or 6 by day & -1 to +2 overnight.

TODAY'S FORECAST FOR PITLOCHRY
A very nippy start, though fine & clear, apart from some valley mist bands. The rain(possibly snow) promised yesterday, has slowed down & is now expected nearer to lunchtime, probably showery in nature, so the afternoon more cloudy than the morning. Any snow is more likely on higher ground, though not much in any event. We may suffer from a "temperature inversion" today---meaning that a pool of cold, heavy air may persist in the valley bottom all day long. Should this happen, winds will stay very light & highest temperatures only reach 2 or 3 degrees. Tonight should be mainly dry & frosty.

A few snowflakes were to be seen around 1300hrs---the first of the season at our altitude.
