This chart is taken from the Met. Office web-site & shows the situation at noon on Wednesday. It indicates Britain to be under the influence of a very mild S. airflow, originating from west of Iberia & NW Africa. High pressure to the east & low to the west is responsible for the wind direction. Notice how SE England is receiving an airflow off the near-continent, while NW Scotland is rather close to Atlantic fronts, hence the subtle differences across the British Isles.
