A WARM WELCOME TO PITLOCHRY WEATHER!
THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY, USING PREVIOUS MET OFFICE CLIMATE STATION EXPERIENCE. FORECASTING IS BASED ON MET OFFICE & BBC MATERIAL, WHICH IS THEN TAILORED FOR THE PITLOCHRY AREA, USING LOCAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE.
GOOD MORNING & A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS.
FROM TODAY, WE WILL BE OPERATING FROM A NEW LAP-TOP COMPUTER.
UNFORTUNATELY, THERE IS A WEE TECHNICAL PROBLEM & BECAUSE IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, THE TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT IS HAVING A LIE-IN.   FORTUNATELY THE OBSERVATION TEAM IS A 365 OPERATION, SO WE DO HAVE SOME READINGS FOR YOU.

IT CAN BE CONFIRMED THAT 2013 HAS OFFICIALLY HAD A WHITE CHRISTMAS, BASED ON HEAVY SLEET FALLING TO START OFF THE 24HR DAY (SO TECHNICALLY, THE PITLOCHRY BOOK-MAKERS HAVE TO PAY OUT ON THE 1- SNOWFLAKE- ONLY REQUIREMENT)

ANOTHER 19.8mms OF RAIN FELL IN THE PREVIOUS 24HRS, TAKING THE MONTH'S TOTAL (TO DATE ) UP TO 176MMS (AVERAGE 92MMS).  UP TO THE 13TH, WE HAD ONLY HAD 34.2MMS.  THE TUMMEL WILL BE AT A HIGH LEVEL

AGAIN, WE AVOIDED AN OVERNIGHT AIR FROST, SO TO DATE -1.4 IS THE COLDEST NIGHT OF DECEMBER (AN UNUSUALLY HIGH FIGURE FOR THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE).

NOT FOR THE FIRST TIME, OUR AREA HAS ESCAPED THE WORST OF THE GALES. A FEW DAYS AGO, PREDICTIONS WERE FOR 55MPH GUSTS LOCALLY ON CHRISTMAS EVE.

TODAY & BOXING DAY SHOULD BE REASONABLE DAYS, THOUGH RATHER COLD.   FRIDAY IS LIKELY TO SEE ANOTHER DEEP DEPRESSION APPROACHING BRINGING MORE RAIN & STRONG WINDS.

HOPEFULLY, MORE LATER IF WE CAN SORT OUT OUR PROBLEMS!!   BARRY
