A cold start, with some ice around (including on the A9), but a mainly dry day ahead, with some sunny intervals. Max.temp. around 4 degrees, with moderate SE winds. This evening, clouds will tend to increase, bringing some rain overnight, as well as an increase in wind strength to force 5 or more.

WEDNESDAY is likely to be unsettled & windy, with rain or showers at times & just a few drier slots with sunny intervals. SW winds will blow at force 4 to 6, off-setting the milder temperatures up to around 9 degrees. Overnight, temperatures will fall to about 2 degrees.
THURSDAY will feel cold throughout, with 3 degrees at best. There should be some dry slots, with sunny intervals. but these are likely to be punctuated with a few showers of sleet or snow. Winds SW4. Temperatures close to freezing by Friday morning.
