THURSDAY 7th JULY

HEADLINES @ 0900Hrs
Rather wet at time of observation, as a rain area trundles further north into the Highlands. The past 24hours have seen the equivalent of 50% of an average full month July rainfall total & other places locally appear to have had even more; Leuchars had 33.8mms between 2100Hrs on 5th July & 2100Hrs on the 6th; Aberfeldy had 44 mms in the 24 hrs up to 0900GMT on the 6th & more statistics will emerge during the day.   The rain we had around 1930Hrs yesterday evening was particularly intense for a time.

PITLOCHRY TODAY
More of a sunshine & showers day, following on from the more continuous rain of yesterday. Probably amounts of sunshine will be fairly restricted & when showers do occur, they are likely to be rather heavy. On the positive side, it should be 2 or 3 degrees warmer than yesterday.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Showers will tend to die out this evening & there should be some clear intervals. More showers may spread in later in the night, though these may pass more to the east of Pitlochry. Minimum temperatures should be around 9 degrees.

OUTLOOK
Low pressure will amble across Britain during the next few days, leaving a sunshine & showers type of weather. So while there will be some dry spells with some sunshine, things are not totally settled & more cloudy periods with some showers are also on the cards, though showers perhaps becoming fewer with time. Maximum temperatures will be in the 17 to 19 range throughout the period.
