Yesterday saw much of Scotland's Central Belt hammered yet again & the Met. Office has come in for some criticism for only raising their amber alert to red at 0815.  PITLOCHRY, tucked up the Tummel valley, escaped the worst---not for the first time (At  0900hr, we were calm, while Dundee was WSW9 !! )   It must be added, however, that some of us in the town, lost power for part of the afternoon. (WHAT HAPPENED ABOUT THE COMPENSATION DUE AFTER THE 33Hr CUT?)

PITLOCHRY TODAY        (WATCH OUT FOR SLIPPY PATCHES EARLY ON)
A mainly cloudy day. There was a shower around 0730, but much of the morning may well stay dry, though with plenty of rain not too far away to the west. Some of this is likely to spill over to us during the afternoon. Snow is now expected ONLY over about 300ms.   Winds will be mod. to fresh from the W. perhaps more NW after dark. Max. temp. about 3 or 4. The thaw of lying snow will continue. Just a touch of frost (at least on the ground ) tonight.

THURSDAY
Mainly dry, with some sunshine at times. An odd shower is possible & could be wintry, especially on higher ground. Breezy from the N.W. & highest temperatures around 4 or 5. Some frost overnight.
