CUMULUS CLOUD--one of the most common & readily recognised cloud types. It is classed as a low cloud, usually floating at a height around 3,000 to 6,000ft & commonly flirting with the mountain tops.Cumulus clouds usually have brilliant white tops where the sunlight catches them, but bases are usually darker. The cloud often develops vertically resembling a cauliflower head. These clouds are commonly seen in our area with W or NW winds & a forecast of sunny intervals & showers.
