A very active warm front crossed the area late yesterday, giving a very wet period, especially afternoon & evening. On so many occasions, belts of rain moving from the west, fragment, weaken & disintegrate with their passage across the mountainous land to our west. BUT--this cannot be relied on always to be the case--as yesterday proved. So although Tyndrum did have a large fall of 48mms (2100 to 2100), Pitlochry received 21.5mms. Often, the ratios between rainfall amounts in the 2 places is many times greater.

PITLOCHRY TODAY
The worst of today's weather will be first thing, with strong winds (recently gusting to force 7) & some showers.
It should have become mainly dry as the morning goes on, with clouds becoming well-broken & the sun out at times.
The afternoon should continue in similar vein, with winds gradually moderating. Maximum temperature should reach around 4 or 5.
The evening & night should be fine & mostly clear, with a frost well before dawn, minimum -2.

FRIDAY
Weak fronts will be encroaching from the west, but amounts of rain getting over to Pitlochry should be fairly small.
So, following a bright, frosty start, high & medium-level cloud should increase & although the morning may well stay dry, a few spits & spots are likely p.m. when it's likely to be generally more overcast. Winds will be moderate or fresh from the west, with highest temperature values up to around 3.
