A bright morning gave way to a more cloudy afternoon, with small amounts of occasional rain or sleet. The high ground to the north of Pitlochry had a little snow.

THE GENERAL WEATHER PATTERN AROUND THE BRITISH ISLES
Pressure is high over Russia & this high pressure is likely to have an increasing impact on British weather over coming days. Atlantic fronts will have a tendency to stall over Western areas. The next few days are crucial in determining whether or not we will face a cold spell during February; the Met Office give this scenario a 2 in 3 chance.
