THE MET. OFFICE SURFACE PRESSURE CHART FOR NOON ON WED.12th, SHOWS THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE THAT HAS GIVEN US A COLD DRY SPELL, HAS MOVED SE- INTO THE CONTINENT.
BUSY-LOOKING ATLANTIC WEATHER, WITH A DEEP DEPRESSION & NUMEROUS FRONTS, IS SET TO ADVANCE INTO THE BRITISH ISLES, BRINGING A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE TO CURRENT CONDITIONS--CLOUDIER, WETTER, WINDIER & MILDER, THOUGH OUR AREA MAY NOT SEE A COMPLETE CHANGE BEFORE FRIDAY OR SATURDAY.

AT 1300Hrs TODAY, THE TEMPERATURE WAS STILL IN NEGATIVE TERRITORY (-2.8 ).
IF IT REMAINS BELOW FREEZING UNTIL 0900Hrs TOMORROW, DECEMBER 11th WILL HAVE BEEN AN " ICE DAY" (TEMPERATURE OVER 24hrs, FROM ONE OBSERVATION TO THE NEXT, STAYING BELOW FREEZING )
IT IS NOT UNUSUAL, HOWEVER, IN WINTER, TO FIND DAYLIGHT HOURS STAYING BELOW FREEZING, BUT FOR THE TEMPERATURE TO RISE DURING THE OVERNIGHT PERIOD--THIS WOULD PREVENT AN ICE DAY FROM BEING REGISTERED, AS THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WOULD APPEAR AS A POSITIVE VALUE.IN THE OBSERVER'S RECORDS..
