A sparkling morning!

Keep your eye on the forecast, as precipitation expected later on in the night, may well result in a further few cms of snow for Pitlochry by Thursday morning. This could end up turning more sleety as it peters out in the morning.

Making forecasting decisions about "Will it rain or will it snow?" are not quite as simple as "rain if it's above freezing & snow if it's below freezing"    I've seen rain at -2 to -3 & snow at +4 !!  Much depends on the vertical structure of temperature in the air mass that is bringing the precipitation.
Height of land, of course, is always an important consideration when considering snowfall.  Much of Pitlochry is between 90 & 150metres, with a few outlying places nearer to 200. Ben Vrackie summit is 841m.. Higher ground is usually colder than lower ground (not in inversion situations) & is one reason for greater snowfalls. The other reason is that higher ground usually has higher totals of all forms of precipitation.
