Another deep fissure created by movement of the Eurasian & North American plates. This one is deep enough to have a path running through it, though on the day the photo was taken, workmen were carrying out repair work to ensure that the path was safe from further plate movements--at least in the short-term.At the bottom of this fissure, you may just see a patch of snow that in deep shadow, had survived through the summer.
