Returning to our series on visits to places in Iceland & Norway, this is OLDEN (Norway).

Olden has a population of around 1,000, with most working people being engaged in farming, fruit growing, breeding animals for fur & the tourist trade.
The village lies in a wide valley with steep mountains towering on both sides, some of which are over 6200 ft high. These mountains have glaciers, the nearest being the Briksdal, which, incidentally, like most European glaciers is shrinking. This & other local glaciers are all offshoots of the mighty Jostedals Icefield, more than 60 miles long & the largest on mainland Europe.
