In order to take accurate temperature readings, it is necessary to house thermometers in a white box with louvred sides called a STEVENSON SCREEN.
Yesterday, this observer disposed of his 20 year-old screen (which was well-past its sell-by date) & replaced it with a brand new one.
Thanks go to Ken in Colchester who made the new screen to strict Met Office specifications & to Shirley & Simon who brought it over 500 miles & erected it.  This morning's readings were the first from the new screen.
