THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
A dry, mild & rather cloudy night is expected.

OUTLOOK
THURSDAY will start rather cloudy, but breaks should develop, with some sunshine later. Warm at 21 degrees.
FRIDAY should be dry & warm with some sunshine, maximum temperature 23.
THE WEEKEND will be somewhat cooler, though it should stay dry, with some sunshine. Winds will blow from the east.

SOME JUNES TO REMEMBER----& SOME TO FORGET

June is normally one of the drier months of the year, though not in 1966, when 212mms fell. This was Pitlochry's wettest June in records going back to 1954.

The watering cans & hosepipes must have been out during June 1988, when only 13mms of rain fell all month.

June 1988 was not only very dry, but also had the highest average maximum temperature for any June going back to 1976.(19.7)

June 1987 must have been dreadful, with an average maximum temperature of only 14.8, nearly a degree lower than April 2011.

June 2006 holds the record for the hottest June day in Pitlochry, 29.3.  Not many of those in these parts!

In June 1998, a reminder that frost at this time of year is still possible. The minimum fell to 0.0 degrees.
