                                                             POOR FORECASTING

Some might be kind enough to suggest that there is no such thing as poor forecasting, just weather that has a mind of it's own!

Well today's been one such occasion & just as we were beginning to get the public on our side, with the lovely start to July this year & the promise of more to come + global warming back on the agenda!!!

Neither the Met Office nor the BBC proved of any help to "yours truly" this morning, as within a matter of minutes after observations were made, cloud thickened & lowered, with a blanket of mist soon covering the town Drizzle & light rain fell & later, surprise surprise, even an outbreak or two of heavier rain.

Consulting the rainfall radar chart provided by the Meteo Group Premium Line, I could see several patches of light rain moving from WSW to ENE, with Pitlochry more or less in the midst of it all.  No rain seemed to be reaching the East Coast, but it wasn't even supposed to be getting THIS far east!

By 1500hrs, there were still spots of rain here, with cloudy skies, though the temperature had managed to top 19.2. Meanwhile, Leuchars was reporting a temperature of 24.2 at 1400hrs & I suspect it had seen no rain & some decent sunny spells into the bargain.

So,  sorry to be a hopelessly wrong optimist on today's weather in Pitlochry, but glad that the weather is still capable of playing tricks & leaving even the professionals with egg on their faces..        Barry 1610hrs
