TODAY'S FORECAST FOR PITLOCHRY
Some occasional light rain this morning, though not affecting Perth or Dundee. I see the sun is shining weakly from behind a sheet of alto stratus cloud.  Dry later, bur sunshine rather hard to find today, with a fair amount of cloud persisting. Nevertheless, temperatures should reach a humid 18. Some further rain seems likely later this evening & overnight & it will remain mild.

LOCAL AREA OUTLOOK

FRIDAY---Generally dry weather, though rather cloudy. There may be some rain later in the day. Temperature still reaching close to 18.

SATURDAY---Cooler. Mostly cloudy, with rain at times.
SUNDAY---Winds round to the NW, so cool & mostly cloudy, with some rain at times.

It would again appear that the Jet Stream has been displaced much further south than its more normal position, so summer has been put "on hold."  It would seem that the North Atlantic has been on a warming trend for several years, which promotes a southward movement of the all-important Jet Stream. Good summers in most of Britain tend to be associated  with its lying well to the north of these islands!
