                             NOT ALL WEATHER

I see that MICHAEL FISH is "splashed"--literally, across the front of today's Telegraph.
Almost inevitably, the Oct. 1987 "hurricane" gets a mention.
People still don't seem to realize after more than a quarter of a century, that the BBC Weather Team are presenters  of the forecast while the Met Office Senior Forecasters are the ones ultimately responsible for the content.
Certainly, Oct 87 marked a sea-level change in British forecasting, with serious adverse conditions tending to be somewhat over-played, in preference to underestimating disruptive , damaging & life-threatening conditions.

STEAM TRAINS are not everyone's "cup of tea", but if YOU  get a buzz of nostalgia with the sight, sound & smell of what powered the railways back in the 30's/ 40's/50's & early 60's, then why not pop down to the station for 3.10pm this Saturday (27th) & if all is on time, get 15 minutes of sheer delight!

PUNCTUATION has probably suffered with the advent of E-mail & text: anything for speed.
What appears below is both amusing & informative, as you can see just how punctuation has the potential to completely alter the meaning of a sentence.

A woman, without her man, is nothing.

A woman: without her, man is nothing
