THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY, .
Our coldest night (both air & ground ) to date this year. However, last night's official coldest spot was LOCH GLASCARNOCH, a bleak & remote location on the A835 between GARVE & ULLAPOOL, which is often also the wettest place in the UK & coldest by day too. The automatic weather station is located just after the NW end of the loch, on the left hand side of the road when travelling towards Ullapool. Besides weather equipment, the station also has several webcams. Its lowest air temperature last night was -12.
This is certainly nowhere near a record for the coldest Highland weather stations (eg DALWHINNIE,BREMAR,ALTNAHARRA,KINBRACE, GRANTOWN ON SPEY & AVIEMORE which occasionally (though less so in recent times) experience temperatures below -20, Even PITLOCHRY has been very close to that level as well.
