THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY
Today, it's likely to be the Cairngorms that catch the lion's share of the snow, with Pitlochry, on the more sheltered southern side, seeing much less. But a few snow showers are likely to make it across & in any event, the wind chill factor is likely to make it feel very cold.
Despite a number of days during January with small amounts of snow falling & lying, we are yet to see a really severe cold spell coming to us from the east. Only if & when this happens, will we be vulnerable to the intense cold & deep, lingering snowfalls that many of "we older ones" recall from times long past (eg 1947, 1963, 1982)
Incidentally, I now have it confirmed that at major Met Office Stations across Scotland, average temperatures for all months except August in 2014 had above average temperatures.
