A WARM WELCOME TO PITLOCHRY WEATHER!
THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY, USING PREVIOUS MET OFFICE CLIMATE STATION EXPERIENCE. FORECASTING IS BASED ON MET OFFICE & BBC MATERIAL, WHICH IS THEN TAILORED FOR THE PITLOCHRY AREA, USING LOCAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE.

NOT THE MET OFFICE AT IT'S BEST WITH THIS ONE!!  USUALLY, IN "DISRUPTIVE SITUATIONS", THEY HAVE A TENDENCY TO "OVERPLAY" THINGS.  TODAY, HOWEVER, THEY HAVE CERTAINLY UNDERESTIMATED  THE AMOUNT OF SNOW. (ONLY A YELLOW WARNING WAS ISSUED)

AT 5pm, SNOW DEPTH HERE AT 140metres, WAS 13cms.  THEIR PREDICTION WAS FOR 2 to 4cms AT LOWEST LEVELS & 10cms ABOVE  200metres.

THE TEMPERATURE AT 5pm WAS +0.1 (THE MAXIMUM SO FAR TODAY),

BUT IT'S BETTER NEWS, EVEN IN THE SHORT TERM, WITH SLEET & RAIN EXPECTED WITHIN THE HOUR, WITH TEMPERATURES CLIMBING A LITTLE OVER NIGHT

MINOR ROADS IN & AROUND THE TOWN ARE PROBLEMATIC THIS EVENING.
