.The table of averages & extremes for February in Pitlochry, shows the heaviest fall for that month occurred 25years ago in 1990. 248mm is not only in itself an exceptionally high total, but is also the 2nd highest total of any month since local records commenced in 1954 .It's also the more remarkable that Feb 1990 only had 28 days for that amount of rain to fall in.
In complete contrast, February 1985 had just 13mm, a mere fraction of the 248mm which was destined to fall 5 years later.
