Barometers are reading very low this morning, as a very deep depression is moving across Scotland.  The spell of snow, expected earlier this morning, proved to be confined to higher parts & to date, little rain has fallen to rid us of yesterday's snowfall.(n.b. The large rainfall total, measured this morning, is principally from yesterday's heavy, wet snow showers ) Temperatures are above freezing. As yet, winds have not reached strengths predicted, being worse further south. We are effectively in the "eye of the storm" just at present.  DUNDEE IS CURRENTLY WSW FORCE 9

PITLOCHRY TODAY
It is expected to be mainly cloudy, with some showers or longer spells of rain. There may be a few drier & brighter interludes. W. winds may increase to gale force as the day goes on, but should ease off somewhat during the evening & tonight. Highest temperatures will reach about 4, with a continuing thaw of lying snow.   This evening may see longer dry spells, though any showers could begin to turn wintry. There will be a slight frost, so untreated surfaces may well be slippery.

WEDNESDAY
Still windy, but less so than today. Mostly rather cloudy, with some showers or longer spells of rain, with an increasing risk of precipitation turning more to sleet or wet snow with time, especially above about 200ms.  Highest temperatures no better than about 4.
