HEADLINES @ 0900Hrs
Rather more snow than expected!  The weather charts look particularly "busy" for the next couple od days, as deep depressions move in from the Atlantic, bringing not only gales, but rapid fluctuations between mild & cold, rain & snow.We are likely to see the back of some of this snowfall in tomorrow morning's expected rain, but colder NW winds with more snow showers will return.  Taking observations each morning can take as little as 7 or 8 minutes, but on mornings like this--more like 30mins (clearing snow, melting snow in the rain gauge funnel, giving a correct figure for average snow depth, uncovering the ground thermometer etc.etc.

PITLOCHRY TODAY
A partly cloudy, cold & windy start., with some showers around, ( a mixture of sleet or snow), but also some clear patches with some sunshine. Becoming mostly dry & brighter later. Highest temperature about 3. Winds should moderate as the day goes on. A slow thaw of the 9cms or so.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Mainly dry for much of the period, but a deep low pressure system will be advancing from the west to give a brief spell of snow later in the night, this turning to rain, with a temporary period of milder weather.

THURSDAY
A wet start, with morning temperatures perhaps reaching about 6, before it starts turning colder again during the afternoon. Very strong W. winds(see Met Office warnings) are also likely to develop, as the colder air from the NW returns again.A few snow showers may work through later . Altogether, very unsettled & remaining so into Friday.
