GUIDE to NEW SITES----JULY 7th 2014

                             GUIDE to NEW SITES

PITLOCHRY WEATHER FORECAST--MET OFFICE

This site has been recently updated & expanded, replacing one of the links no longer
in use on my site. Together with the BBC weather site, this is the "Gold Standard" of weather forecasting & as well as specifically presenting plenty of detail for Pitlochry, is also the gateway to most of the services that are delivered by the Met. Office.
This link from PitlochryWeather is ideal to use when I am not able to provide updates.

MET OFFICE-- WOW  (weather observers website)

I only became a member of this recently. Most of those who contribute are enthusiasts, pursuing their hobby (They are neither employed nor paid by the Met Office). The vast majority of members own sophisticated automatic weather stations, so by transmitting data to computers linked to the WOW website, can provide data on the hour, every hour 24/7/365.   The great advantage of such weather stations is that the data continues to flow even when the site owner is away from home.  The disadvantage is that there can be break- downs & in any event, data is not as reliable as obtained from standard equipment, manually read by a trained observer.
I am in the latter category, very reliable data, but none available if I am away from home.
Pitlochry data will normally be on the WOW map between 9& 10am each day.  Occasionally, especially in the most interesting weather, I may enter data at other additional times.
I hope most readers will be happy using WOW.  You can find data for any region in Britain.
I welcome comments & am happy to help  (please use e-mail (subject--Pitlochryweather)
