WED 1st APR

A WARM WELCOME TO PITLOCHRY WEATHER!

THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY

.Yesterday was pretty dire for the time of year & if you live at any significant altitude, then snow would have been able to accumulate on occasions.  At least it's a generally improving situation as we move towards & into the Easter period.

                                                   MARCH 2015 SUMMARY
Not for some time, has a month's key weather figures   ( Max. Temp.  Min. Temp.& Rainfall Total)
proved so close to the long-term average.

AV. MAX. TEMP.  8.8 (+0.4).    AV MIN TEMP.  1.4 (+0.3).   RAINFALL TOTAL  80.4mm( 98%)

Long-term averages are invariably made up of some quite significant departures from the mean figures, but not this year, though it could be argued that the slight warming trend was still identifiable.

All in all, while there was certainly no great leap into spring, wintry conditions were generally subdued at low altitudes. No extremes were broken.

APRIL is one of Pitlochry's driest months & while occasionally, the odd day is capable of reaching the "hot" category, frosts can sometimes prove damaging & need monitoring especially later in the month, when a minus 4 or 5 can prove catastrophic in some vulnerable gardens with tender young plants.
