YESTERDAY. Well, at least gardeners must have been relieved to see rain at last on Friday evening
In fact, we all enjoyed something of a bonus yesterday--more than had been promised earlier in the week, with the thermometer up to 17.0 & generous amounts of sunshine.
Warmest(20.1)--Holbeach   Coldest(4.7)--Lerwick   Wettest(6.6mm)--Lerwick

TODAY  A slight covering of snow on Ben Vrackie!!  "Back to the usual rubbish"!!!  But, having
said that, much of today should be dry, with some sunshine & only a few showers around.
It will ,however, be much colder, with a force 3/4 NW wind & about 10 to 12 degrees lower
 than earlier this week.
At least take comfort from the fact that the sun is quite powerful now (as long as you are standing
in it, or behind glass!)  Not far off a frost tonight.

THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY

YESTERDAY.  It was the warmest day of April so far at 21.1  (warmer than Easter Day by 1.2 degrees).
What IS surprising is that we have managed to avoid any North Sea low cloud during this long fine spell.
In all probability, Pitlochry was as warm as anywhere in the U.K. yesterday.

TODAY  Just one more good day before things start to slide, though I would suspect a little more cloud around. The maximum temperature should still make at least 18.

OUTLOOK  Downhill & we may not reach double figures again in April from Saturday onwards.  Some welcome showery rain for the gardens expected.   Ah well!---it was lovely while it lasted!

TUES 21st APRIL

A WARM WELCOME TO PITLOCHRY WEATHER!

THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY

YESTERDAY  Much less sunshine than of late, mostly confined to the late afternoon/
early evening. Top temperature up to 13.7. Evening clear skies saw a crescent moon
in the western sky, along with Venus, currently brightest object in the heavens.  All
set for at least a ground frost overnight.

TODAY   Frost around if you were up early, otherwise a beautiful morning if a little nippy.
Should be a straightforward sunny day, with little cloud to spoil things & the thermometer
topping 17.

OUTLOOK  Make the best of  things, as the weather will slowly go downhill, though both
Wednesday & Thursday should at least be dry, though less sunshine than today. By the weekend
there will be little sign left of the high pressure system that has given us such a pleasant April
& fronts & depressions will be taking over the controls.

A WARM WELCOME TO PITLOCHRY WEATHER!

THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY

YESTERDAY---Fine weather continued & though patches of cloud made the sun weak at times & a brisk E
wind felt rather chilly, the thermometer still managed 16.1, an above-average figure. In fact 13 days out of 19
have had above average temperature. The brightest star I can recall ever seeing, continues to dominate the western sky on a clear evening (planet venus)
SCOTLAND again dominated the extremes, including a sunny Stornoway ( 13.9hrs), though Wick Airport was a depressing 8.3 degrees at best.

TODAY---A cloudy morning, but high pressure continues to dominate & I'm sure it will become brighter with some sunshine on occasions. Temperatures should reach 14 or 15.

FURTHER OUTLOOK---High pressure will hold until late Thursday before finally losing its grip.
Thereafter, several depressions are lined up to make things rather more changeable.

YESTERDAY   What a super day!---wall to wall sunshine + a top temperature of 15.7.   BUT, it wasn't meant
to be quite that good. The professionals expected the afternoon to be more cloudy, with the best temperature
nearer to 12.  Of course, who cares when the weather is BETTER than predicted!

Sunniest(13.7hrs)--TIREE     Warmest(17.6)--ACHNAGART---makes up for all the rain last week!!!
Coldest(7.0)--INVERBERVIE     SCOTLAND HAS MORE WEATHER!

TODAY
A brilliant start & BBC Pitlochry is very positive about today!   I have a feeling there may be rather more cloud about p.m. Temperatures should get up to 14 locally, but lower on the East Coast. The far West should reach 17 degrees.

OUTLOOK
Dry & settled for much of the coming week, but some days will be more cloudy.

A WARM WELCOME TO PITLOCHRY WEATHER!

THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY

YESTERDAY saw more of a cloud sheet persisting & the air felt cool. Nonetheless, the day's high temp. at 12.4
is pretty close to normal for mid-April. The evening saw cloud largely breaking up & the very bright star in the western sky is VENUS. (maybe more cloud around this evening)

TODAY---A gorgeous morning, but nippy. Clear skies last night have left the lowest temperatures so far this month (-6.4 on the grass here). The lawns are dripping in dew or still frosted where the sun hasn't reached.
We may well not keep wall to wall sunshine all day, with a band of cloud out in the North Sea drifting our way.

OUTLOOK---Staying dry, not always sunny(probably Western areas rather more sunny & warmer). Pitlochry
top temperatures around 12 to 14.  High pressure continues to hold sway.

THURSDAY was another pleasant day, with generous amounts of sunshine, though the top temperature was only 14.8. This is a little above normal, but with a powerful sun & little cloud, perhaps expectations can be for an even higher figure. Remember the air in the shadows is still quite cool!
STORNOWAY was wettest with 3mm, MORPETH was sunniest with 12.9hrs
BOURNEMOUTH(airport) was warmest at 22.1

TODAY, good things continue, with bright skies & some sunshine, though 12 or so is your limit.
Settled weather is set to continue for several more days yet, with little or no rain an odds-on certainty!  (NOTE--The North Sea surface temperature is only 7 or 8 at this time of year.
Winds from the east are likely to bring sea fog & low temperatures onto the East Coast & up the Firth of Tay on occasions, so may be best heading west (if you're " foot-loose & fancy-free") on those days ahead when this happens.
