THE ONLY ONLINE WEATHER SERVICE WHERE THE OBSERVER LIVES & RECORDS IN PITLOCHRY, USING PREVIOUS MET OFFICE CLIMATE STATION EXPERIENCE. FORECASTING IS BASED ON MET OFFICE & BBC MATERIAL, WHICH IS THEN TAILORED FOR THE PITLOCHRY AREA, USING LOCAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE.
There has been a surge of people using the site recently. Thanks both to the " regulars " & newcomers.
Hope you have discovered the NEW LINKS. I actually have become a member of WOW (Met Office ).
PITLOCHRY normally appears from 9.10 approx. 'till 10am. I sometimes send data in at extra times, more so in extreme weather, providing I am at home. Almost all weather stations submitting data are fully automated (so it matters not whether the site owner is actually at home ). However, if you see a piece of data that is way out of line with others nearby, there may well be a fault. The gold standard in weather observations is about Stevenson Screens, standard thermometers & standard rain gauges.
TODAY in PITLOCHRY
Dry, with sunshine at times, especially this morning. There may be a few afternoon or evening heavy showers, but the risk for Pitlochry being affected is very low, with most of these showers well to the east of us.Not as warm as it was during the recent "mini heatwave", though never-the -less very pleasant & feeling a little fresher.
Overnight should be dry & fairly mild.
Maximum temperature 20 or 21 Wind W 2 to 4 Low overnight 8 to 10
OUTLOOK---Monday---Mostly dry with some sunshine, but light rain for a time during the evening.
Tuesday---Mainly dry with some sunshine.
Apparently, parts of Southern England might see 30 degrees by the end of the week. Too hot for me!!
For longer outlook periods, surface pressure charts, mountain weather & severe weather warnings, go to the Met Office's regional forecasts and click the relevant headings.
