Again, a very mild day & with temperatures expected to reach about 15 degrees, it could perhaps create another record locally. Temperatures could reach 17 or 18 in coastal places from Aberdeen to Fife. Winds will be force 3or 4 from the W or SW. Though partly cloudy, a few sunny intervals are likely & it should remain dry. TONIGHT should see a mixture of broken cloud & clear spells, with temperatures down to a minimum of 7 or 8 degrees.

A mainly cloudy day, though a few cloud breaks & the odd sunny interval are always possible. Perhaps a slightly greater chance today of at least a little rain managing to cross the mountains in the west, though amounts likely to be very small. Very mild, with the highest temperature up to between 11 & 12 degrees. Winds will be from the SW, mainly in the range force 2 to 4.  TONIGHT will remain very mild, with varying amounts of cloud & perhaps a little slight rain or drizzle on occasions.

YESTERDAY IN PITLOCHRYRather cloudy, but also some unexpected cloud breaks, with sunny intervals. Not even spits of rain managed to make it through from the west. Mild for the time of year, for about the 11th time this month!
Fyvie Castle(Aberdeenshire) was Britain's hot spot at 15 degrees.

The cloud base will be low at times, covering the higher ground. It will, however, be on the mild side, with temperatures reaching a maximum of about 11 degrees.Winds will be light at first, but settling into the SW at around force 3 or 4.  TONIGHT will remain cloudy & there will be some further occasional, mainly light rain, not amounting to very much in total. THE YELLOW THERMOMETER KEEPS A RECORD OF THE DAILY MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE REACHED. BELOW IT,THE MINIMUM DOES LIKEWISE FOR THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE REACHED. BOTH ARE RESET ABOUT 0900Hrs EACH DAY. THE LOWEST THERMOMETER PROVIDES THE INFORMATION TO CALCULATE THE HUMIDITY& IS CALLED A WET BULB THERMOMETER.

YESTERDAY IN PITLOCHRY
The snow showers came in rather more readily than predicted, though there was no accumulation of snow during daylight hours. However, the early evening showers, supported by falling temperatures, did succeed in giving a covering. Britain is covered by a ridge of high pressure & many places should be dry & quite sunny. But then, it's all change for tomorrow, with the mild SW winds returning, bringing Atlantic fronts in, setting the pattern for next week.

Much colder, with NW winds increasing during the day to become force 5 or 6. Dry for much of the time, with some sunny intervals, but a risk of some wintry showers p.m. Any snow accumulation is more likely above about 200ms. Frost by Sunday morning.  MIlder but unsettled in the further outlook.

Remaining very mild today, with winds W to NW at about force 3. Partly cloudy at times, with perhaps the odd shower in the next hour or so, otherwise dry, with increasing amounts of sunshine later on today. Temperatures are expected to reach a mild 11 degrees. TONIGHT should see some clear spells, as well as some more cloudy periods. Lowest temperatures are likely to be down a bit from recent nights, but an air frost seems unlikely.

A mainly cloudy day, with sunshine at a premium. However, it was February's mildest day to date & Leuchars, at 11 degrees, was the mildest spot in Britain!
THE GENERAL WEATHER PATTERN AROUND THE BRITISH ISLES
A large high sits to the SW of Britain. Pressure is low over Poland, giving a fresh NW airstream over Britain. By the weekend, the high will have moved south to be west of Spain, leaving us in a rather more changeable & colder set up.
TOMORROW'S FORECAST FOR PITLOCHRY
Rather more cloud than today, perhaps with some small amounts of rain on occasions. It will still be both mild & breezy.

Monday proved disappointing on sunshine amounts & it was windy into the bargain. Nevertheless, it was the mildest day this month to date, up to 9.2.
THE GENERAL WEATHER PATTERN AROUND THE BRITISH ISLES
A large high pressure system is situated over Mid Atlantic. Pressure is low over Scandinavia. Between the two, Britain is in a NW airflow.During this week, the Atlantic high will weaken & move slowly south, leaving Britain in more of a SW flow, promising more changeable conditions.

Following a slight frost in the early part of the night, temperatures have risen sharply, as air from an Atlantic source has flooded in on strong NW winds.It is expected to be a dry day, though quite windy (there's already been a gust to 23mph ), with NW winds around force 4 to 5 on average. Though not feeling all that mild in the wind, temperatures should reach their highest of the month to date, maximum close to 8 degrees. There should be some decent spells of sunshine, interspersed with patches of cumulus cloud. TONIGHT, it may become more cloudy for a time, but by morning, temperatures will have dropped fairly close to freezing.
