SEPTEMBER 2014 SUMMARY

September 2014 has been the DRIEST September locally since 1972, with only 10.2mms of rain.
The  "wettest day" had only 2.4mms.  Back in August, when the Tummel was briefly in spate ( as in Davy's photograph), it took almost 4 times as much rain (falling in about 18hrs), as fell during the entire month of September.
The total fall was in fact just 13% of the long-term average for the month.

But, not only was Sept 2014 very dry, it will also be remembered for its above average temperatures.
The nights were especially mild, probably the highest  average temp. since at least 1976. There was not even a single ground frost.
The days 17.4 on average, were perhaps more noted for their consistent warmth, rather than a few days of excessive heat. The highest temp. was only 21.0.

SEPTEMBER WAS A LITTLE WARMER THAN AUGUST, WHICH SEEMINGLY HAPPENS
ONLY ABOUT 5 TIMES IN A CENTURY.
