HEADLINES @ 0900Hrs
Low pressure will dominate Britain's weather during the next few days. Today, an active slow-moving front will be close to our area throughout the day & be responsible for the prolonged & at times heavy rainfall.(Watch the rainfall radar in "Favourite Links" to see how our region comes off worst.)


PITLOCHRY TODAY
Overcast, with long spells of rain, sometimes heavy, occasional easing off temporarily. High rainfall totals are likely. Maximum temperatures will be pegged back to around 15 or 16 degrees. Winds will be moderate or fresh from the east.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
The rain is likely to continue through the evening, but die out after midnight. Lowest temperatures should be around 9 or 10 degrees.

OUTLOOK
THURSDAY is expected to be an unsettled day, with heavy showers which may merge into longer spells of rain.  A few drier & brighter spells may also occur.
FRIDAY & THE WEEKEND look like remaining rather unsettled, with some showers or even a longer spell of rain. As winds move more to a SW direction by the weekend, it should become a little warmer.

TUESDAY 5th JULY----EVENING

UPDATE @ 1745Hrs
The morning was largely dry & cloudy, though it was often bright, with a watery sun trying to shine through. The afternoon saw thicker cloud & there was a short spell of light rain for a time this afternoon--rather more further to the east. Temperatures at best were 4 degrees down on yesterday at 18.2 degrees.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
A cloudy evening & night. There will be dry spells, especially during the evening, but overnight, it is likely to turn wet, as an active front becomes slow-moving over the area. Lowest temperatures staying in double figures.

OUTLOOK
WEDNESDAY is expected to be dull with spells of rain with some rather large totals likely.
THE REST OF THE WEEK is likely to stay unsettled with showers & one or two longer spells of rain.

TUESDAY 5th JULY

HEADLINES @ 0845Hrs
A very mild night. There were a few spits of rain around 0800Hrs, but that soon died out, leaving things cloudy, dry & windy.High pressure has now shifted away & low pressure with fronts, will begin to dominate things for the next few days.


PITLOCHRY TODAY
A mainly cloudy day, with a fresh SE wind. Although largely dry this morning, there is likely to be some light & patchy rain later this afternoon & this evening, but amounts should be small. It will be cooler than yesterday. with a maximum temperature around 18 degrees.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
It will continue cloudy, with occasional, mainly light rain. Later in the night, the rain is likely to become more persistent & heavy. Temperatures should hold in double figures.

OUTLOOK
WEDNESDAY is likely to remain cloudy, with fronts very slow-moving over the area. Periods of rain are expected, though perhaps easing later in the day.It will stay cool, with temperatures around 16 at best.
THE REST OF THE WEEK remains rather unsettled with some heavy showers or longer spells of rain, only a little sunshine & staying cool.

MONDAY 4th JULY----EVENING

UPDATE @ 1730Hrs
It took a while for the morning cloud to lift & break, but once it did so, it was a day of broken cloud & sunny spells. The maximum temperature was again above the long-term average, reaching 22.2 degrees.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
The evening & night should stay dry, with some further sunny spells this evening, though rather more cloudy at times overnight. Lowest temperatures will be around 10 degrees.


OUTLOOK
TUESDAY will see high pressure giving way to low & some rain-bearing fronts advancing from the SW. It is likely to start dry, but cloudy. During the afternoon, some rain is likely to spread into the area, though amounts are likely to be small. Winds will be fresher from the SE & temperatures are likely to be 4 or 5 degrees down on today's.
WEDNESDAY threatens to be a cloudy day, with some more persistent & heavier rain.

LOCH RANNOCH

MONDAY 4th JULY

HEADLINES @ 0900Hrs
A bit frustrating at present, to find a sheet of North Sea low cloud over the area, an unfortunate feature of  the weather in our part of the country when winds come off the cool North Sea during an otherwise warm, settled spell. Give it time; it should start to break later in the morning----but remember, this is the final day of the current settled spell.

PITLOCHRY TODAY
Some low cloud from the North Sea affecting the area to start the day. This should break up later to give another dry, warm day, with patchy cloud & some sunny spells. Maximum temperatures should reach around 23 degrees, with gentle breezes from the S.E.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
A dry warm evening, will be followed by a dry night with broken cloud. (There is just an outside chance of a shower, more likely over the mountains to the north of us). Lowest temperature around 10 degrees.

OUTLOOK
 TUESDAY will be a cloudier & cooler day, with some rain around later, though most of this only light. Temperatures about 5 or 6 degrees down on today's.
WEDNESDAY will be mostly cloudy & cool with spells of rain.

SUNDAY 3rd JULY----EVENING

UPDATE @ 1715Hrs
It's been an excellent summer's day, with plenty of sunshine & very warm. The maximum temperature reached 23.1 degrees, the highest since June 3rd. Last July, the month's highest temperature was only 21.9.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
There will be further sunny spells this evening with a dry night to follow. There could well be some mist patches around early tomorrow morning. Minimum overnight temperature down to about 7 degrees.
OUTLOOK
MONDAY will continue much as today, with good periods of sunshine & temperatures in the "low 70's"
TUESDAY will see a transition to more unsettled conditions, as high pressure gives way to low pressure with rain-bearing fronts.
