HEADLINES @ 0900Hrs
The 5th chilly early morning on the trot, with the ground min. not far off frost levels. There were also attractive mist patches flirting with Ben Vrackie before 0800Hrs. Looking good for today & tomorrow, but don't get carried away!  The warm settled stuff is not here to stay for long!!

PITLOCHRY TODAY
A fine, warm day in prospect, with light winds & a maximum temperature of around 21 degrees. This would make it the warmest day since June 3rd (when it got to 26.5 ). There is likely to be most sunshine this morning & some patches of cloud this afternoon.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Some sunshine this evening & some clear spells overnight, lowest temperature around 7 or 8 degrees.

OUTLOOK
MONDAY should see more of the same, with top temperatures around 22 degrees--but
TUESDAY will see the high pressure giving way, a depression moving in from the west & frontal systems bringing some rain later in the day

UPDATE @ 1730Hrs
It was a pleasant morning, with sunny intervals & a longer spell of sunshine around 1130/ 1200, when today's highest temperature occurred (20.7 ). This afternoon was cloudy, though it was still 19 degrees at the time this update was made.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
Some clearer skies will gradually develop & it should remain dry throughout. Minimum temperatures will fall to around 7 degrees.

OUTLOOK
SUNDAY is expected to be a dry, bright day with some sunshine. Maximum temperatures should reach 20 or 21 degrees & winds will be light.
MONDAY will be similar, but as the week progresses, it will become less settled.

SATURDAY 2nd JULY

High pressure will be in charge for the next 3 or 4 days, before it becomes more unsettled again. It was somewhat cooler than expected last night (more cloud breaks) & it was almost  down to a ground frost here. A very reasonable weekend lies ahead.


PITLOCHRY TODAY
Very much like yesterday. Dry, rather a lot of cloud, but bright with a few sunny intervals. A light breeze from the east. The maximum temperature should reach about 18 degrees, just a touch down on average.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
A little sunshine during the evening & a few clear spells overnight. Minimum temperature about 8 degrees.

OUTLOOK
SUNDAY should be dry & bright with sunny spells & highest temperature up to about 20 degrees.
MONDAY should also be dry & bright with some sunshine & pleasantly warm.

UPDATE @ 1830Hrs
It's been a pleasant start to July, though cloud has predominated over sunshine. The day's highest temperature reached 17.6 degrees.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
A dry period, with a few clear spells, light winds & a low of about 9 degrees.

OUTLOOK
SATURDAY should be much as today has been, but perhaps a little more in the way of sunshine. Maximum temperature around 17 degrees, which is below the normal.
SUNDAY should remain dry with some sunshine, with temperatures a little higher.

JUNE 2011----MONTHLY SUMMARY

JUNE was cooler than average, with both maximum & minimum values 1 degree below the long-term average.  The month's highest temperature was 26.5 on the 3rd & only this day & on the 2nd & 19th, did temperatures exceed 20 degrees.The 11th was the coolest day, with a high of just 12.0 degrees  Amazingly, June's average maximum temperature was only 0.7 degrees higher than that of April 2011!

The month's lowest temperature was 1.0 on the morning of the 10th. There were 5 nights with a ground frost at this prone site, the lowest being -2.9 on the 10th.

Rainfall at 64.0mms was just 3% above the long-term average. 13 days had 1.0mm or more & the wettest 24hr period was the 20th with 14.1mms.

This is unlikely to be a June that sticks in the memory, with no long-term records broken. It was disappointing for those who welcome sun & warmth, though gardeners & growers would have little cause for complaint.

A pleasant start, following another chilly night, with nearly a ground frost.  We again escaped the worst of yesterday's showers.

PITLOCHRY TODAY
 A mainly dry day;just a small chance of a p.m. shower. Some sunny intervals, but rather a lot of cloud at times. The maximum temperature should reach around 18 degrees, with a light to moderate NW wind.

THIS EVENING & TONIGHT
 An isolated shower, but plenty of dry weather with broken cloud. Probably a little less cold than the last few nights with a minimum of around 8 degrees.

OUTLOOK
THE WEEKEND should be dry, with partly cloudy skies but also a little sunshine. Temperatures reaching around 18 on Saturday, possibly a little higher on Sunday.
